Are you thinking of making a move but don’t know which neighbourhood would suit you? Why don’t we discuss one neighbourhood at a time! If you haven’t read the introduction to our neighbourhood series, please click here!

Today we want to discuss East York, perhaps also one of our favourite neighbourhoods because of the location and the proximity to the Danforth and its indie shops. This community is quite large, as it covers Broadview to Victoria Park, located above the Danforth. Did you know that East York was actually Canada’s last Borough when it merged into the City of Toronto? Now, this is a well desired community because of its proximity to Greek Town and the Danforth, but also to downtown Toronto.

Most of the homes were built between the 1890s and 1960s, so you will most likely find 2-storey semi-detached & detached homes and many (smaller) bungalow homes in East York that are well-desired by many home buyers. We don’t want to forget to mention that this community has many great schools including Centennial College.

Since quite a few homes have been renovated by their homeowners, you will still find much charm throughout the home such as stained glass pieces!

If you’re interested in trying out this area, we have a 3 bed, 2 bathroom (with 3 car parking!) detached home for sale in East York: 980 Carlaw Ave!

If you live in this neighbourhood, East Yorkers encourage to support local. So, if you want to try a few places, we highly recommend you give Serano Bakery and Goat Coffee Co. a try!

Fun fact: If you visit the McDonalds located on Pape and Cosburn Ave in the morning, you’ll see a restaurant filled with elderly Greek families drinking coffee and eating breakfast together!

Wondering what the neighbourhood statistics are? We’ve got you covered. One Group has done the research for you.
